The I Am Collection: Identity, Purpose, and Divine Light

Leona Lengyel was invited to create a Bible-inspired art collection for St Barnabas Kensington, a project she completed in 2021. The artwork was meticulously designed to complement both the vibrant community and the historic architecture of the church. Each piece was created with versatility in mind, allowing it to support the church’s diverse activities.

Titled The I Am Collection, this thought-provoking series explores themes of identity and purpose in an increasingly fragmented world. It illuminates the innate light within each individual, encouraging deep reflection. The collection aims to inspire moments of clarity, serenity, and divine belonging—reminding us of our shared potential for connection and the light we are called to carry within.

A Mood Board of Light and Reflection

The artistic vision behind this project is captured in a mood board that fosters a contemplative atmosphere which explores the conventional religious framework. It draws on the vibrant hues of stained glass, expressed through simple, minimalistic figurative elements.

At the heart of this work is a desire to create an environment where people can gather—whether for worship, quiet reflection, or a simple moment of peace. The collection was designed to cultivate a welcoming space where individuals can pause, connect, and experience a profound sense of belonging. The result is an atmosphere that feels both intimate and expansive.
